You must be 15.9 months to enroll in the classroom course. A learner's permit is not required to start the classroom course. To receive a driver's education certificate, you are required by Massachusetts law to complete 30 hours of classroom instruction, 12 hours of driver training, and 6 hours of driver observation CLASS ROOM Please pick up a copy of the Driver's Manual at the Registry for your reference. Upon registering for a class session parents/students are obligated to disclose any learning issues that may assist the school in addressing individual student needs. Students are required to present a report/project during the class portion. The subject matter must pertain to Driver Education and be approved by the classroom teacher. Reports will be presented on the date assigned by the teacher. If a student fails to do the project it will be deducted from their final grade. Students are required by Massachusetts law to complete thirty hours of classroom instruction. If a class is missed, you are required to make up that particular lesson in a future session before your Driver Education Certificate can be issued. If a student is habitually absent, credit for the course may be denied by Anthony's Auto School without a refund. Students will have the opportunity to attend another full class session free of charge, provided they have already paid for the classroom portion of the course. DRIVING Students must complete 12 hour behind the wheel lessons and 6 observation hours. Each lesson consists of one hour behind the wheel and some observation time. Road lessons are designed to meet the standards set by the Registry of Motor Vehicles to pass a road test, as well as teach lifelong safe driving skills. Students are also required to drive a minimum of 40 hours with their parents/guardian. Students must be enrolled in a classroom session in order to schedule driving lessons. Anthony's Auto School reserves the right to determine whether or not a student is ready to begin driving lessons and/or be sponsored for a road test. It is mandatory that all students give a full twenty four hours notice for changes or cancellations. Failing to do so will result in a $30 fee. If you book a driving lesson and do not show or do not have your permit, you will be charged a $30 "NO SHOW" fee. In either event- future lessons will not be scheduled until the matter is settled with your driving instructor. The Driver Education Certificate fee is $20 and must be paid on or before the students 11th driving lesson. Failure to do so may result in a delay in the processing of the certificate. STUDENT BEHAVIOR IS VERY IMPORTANT! If a student is disruptive in class they will receive a verbal warning for their first offense. Upon their second offense a phone call will be issued to their parents. In the event of a third offense, the student in question will be expelled from the course without a refund. Should a student cause malicious property damage to the classroom, automobiles, bathrooms, or building, they will be expelled from the course immediately without a refund. ZERO TOLERANCE RULE The use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco will not be tolerated and will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the driver's education program- A REFUND WILL NOT BE ISSUED. Smoking is prohibited during class instruction, as well as on school property.
